I've been involved with Customer Relationship
Management strategies and applications since the beginning
of my career. As an early adopter of CRM technology way
back in 1983, I learned very quickly the value of these
tools in three dramatic ways:
First, I was able to manage and track my workflow,
schedule and touch-points with customers to help me be more
efficient and effective.
Second, my customers were always impressed
with how much I "remembered" about them, how quickly
I could access data and give them quick answers to their
questions and manage our relationship so effectively.
And third, I never worried about my customers
not being properly handled when I was away from the office.
When my customers called the office during my absence any
one of my associates could access the necessary information
from our CRM system and handle the call. Our customer's
experience was always personal and efficient.
Business relationships are based on an accumulation
of personal interactions over a significant period of time
between a company and a customer. Successfully remembering,
and learning from those interactions is what builds lasting
relationships and great businesses.
